Whose Who @ TLC
Mike Seaton
F.Inst.G (Dip)
Managing Director
Mike started looking after turf in 1981 as an Assistant Groundsman at a public
school in Berkshire. Since then he has held numerous managerial positions advising
turf managers and selling turf care products and equipment. He has taught Green
Keepers in both the subjects of turf care and the use of pesticides and is currently
taking a five-year MSc course in Sports Surface Technology and Related Subjects,
at Cranfield University.
Mike founded Weed Free, his successful turf maintenance company serving the
professional sports turf industry, in 1991, but felt, even then that the domestic
market needed specialist attention.
His reasoning behind the creation and development of The Lawn Company is simply
to break down the mysteries of grass care and make some of the wealth of knowledge
and practical experience gained over the last twenty years available to everyone,
in the hope that they too may enjoy their lawns.
His passion for grass and its welfare is difficult to hide. He has advised visitors
to The Chelsea Flower show and received publicity in National Newspapers and
Gardening Magazines. He is slowly being recognised as an authoritive figure
on lawns and their care at a national level.
Chris Seaton MCGI ARICS MBEng FloC
Operations Director
Mike's brother Chris joined the company in 1999 to help with its development and nationwide expansion.
Chris has a wealth of experience managing organisations with budget spends
of £millions. His project management skills and knowledge of the quality
assurance certification process has been an invaluable asset in the development
of not only Weed Free but also The Lawn Company.
With an experienced and innovative amenity turf care company behind it and the
expertise of some of the leading people in the industry, The Lawn Company is
already setting the standards for bespoke and specialist lawn care services.
